Sports City · Campos del Río, Murcia

A pitch to play onA place to growA future to share

The land has already been donated. Now we want to turn this dream into a Sports City devoted to training, community and the next generations of Campos del Río.

The story behind the project

A life devoted to football.
A dream devoted to his homeland.

Antonio Enrique Hernández Abenza on the land where C.R. Sport Arena will be built

The founder

Antonio Enrique Hernández Abenza

National Football Coach · Born in Campos del Río

C.R. Sport Arena was born with the purpose of creating a structured, safe and welcoming sports space for children, youth and families in Campos del Río. Behind this initiative is Antonio Enrique Hernández Abenza, the project's founder and a man whose path has always been deeply tied to football.

Antonio Enrique Hernández Abenza during his time as a Real Murcia player, 1967/68 season

1967–1978

From player to technical scout

His early years connected to club football came in the 1967/68 season, playing in Real Murcia's youth categories.

From there he transitioned to the other side of the pitch: between 1976 and 1978 he worked as a youth technical scout for Real Madrid, alongside Mr. Nito, covering the Murcia, Alicante and Albacete areas.

National Coach

On 17 July 1981, following Course XXVIII held in Girona, he earned the National Coach Title from the Royal Spanish Football Federation. He preserves the original credential.

1981–2006

Twenty-five years at F.C. Barcelona

From 1981 to 2006 he carried out that same role as youth technical scout for Fútbol Club Barcelona: twenty-five years monitoring and assessing young talent. In parallel, he ran his own academy for years, the Escuela de Fútbol Líder in Murcia.

From that era he keeps these photographs, taken in 2001 during a youth match between F.C. Barcelona and his academy, alongside a very young Leo Messi, then a player in the Blaugrana youth ranks.

Today

A pitch for his village

Enrique is retired from active football. But his hometown, Campos del Río, still lacks a pitch where young people can train and play.

After so many years devoted to football, he decided to pour that knowledge into the place that is part of his own history: bringing to Campos del Río a pitch capable of uniting the community and giving new generations a space to learn, connect, compete and believe in their own potential.

A message from Enrique

My vision for the future

I have the conviction that this project will become a reality. Our immense enthusiasm, combined with the desire of local youth, the help of our neighbours and friends from the football world, national and international, and the collaboration of our Town Hall, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the Spanish and Murcian Football Federations, clubs and professional footballers from all countries, will ensure that one day soon, C.R. Sport Arena will be an authentic reality.

Grain by grain, the granary is filled. From €25.

Thank you for your support and magnificent collaboration. To make this dream come true:

We are all in the starting lineup!
